Depending on the number of available computers, burns staion can be configured to run either as a server/clients architecture or as a single client jukebox machine. The client interface is programmed in wxPyhthon, which are python bindings to wxWidgets, an open-source framework which allows the Burn station 's visual interface to connect and use funtions of other free softwares like xmms, a popular audio player, or the well known Mysql database system. The Burnstation's Content Management System is based on a hacked version of Netjuke (http://netjuke.org) GPL software, which is the most complete and developed web + database for managing huge media collections We've found by the time of writing this software.
An important point regarding the BurnStation software is the fact that it has been tested, shared and further developed in the streets before being published on the net. This seems to be the best and the cruelest software testing model we could think of.
The BurnStation
beta release-party was held on September the 2nd 2004 during the 6th
Werkleitz Biennale (Halle, Germany) whose theme was Common
